Vintage Babe: The Girls of Summer

April 20, 2011

Yes, it’s that time.  At least in Southern California it’s that time. 🙂 I’ve just finished my lunges and squats and things and I’m plotting my mini get-a-way spot so it’s the perfect time for a little inspiration!  Here are some of the ladies who embody summertime sexiness eternally.

Basically I ALWAYS want to be Ali MacGraw, but Summer Ali is the most quintessential! She was the perfect fresh-faced, tan, all-American 1970’s summertime gal.  The items I’m most in need of biting from Ms. Macgraw’s style: a striped, nautical top, a simple–but skimpy–bikini, and long, loose hair or a sleek ponytail!

When I think of Lauren Hutton, I get that Meryl Streep in Out of Africa kind of vibe, and thats the inspiration she’s bringing to my summer wardrobe.  Clean, classic, and yet somehow always sophisticated no matter how casual!  I dare you to deny Lauren’s beauty.  Staples influenced by her style would include: a crisp white top, breezy wide-legged pants (maybe linen?), and tousled, wavy hair with a wide brimmed hat.

Brigitte Bardot should be on every list of sexy women for the rest of eternity, but she is extra perfect for “beach bunny” themed post.  She was never afraid to show some skin (why should she have been??) and always rocked the most perfect bed-head in all of woman-kind.  Items to consider for a Bardot-style summer? Maybe a scarf/headband with voluminous hair, ultra girly clothes (hello, polka dotted pedal pushers!) and 1960’s pin-up worthy swimwear in a classic color like white.
