Potts in Pink

March 28, 2011

Don’t get me wrong, I love the whole “street style” thing made popular by sites like The Satorialist and know that seeing what real life people are wearing in different parts of the world can be a major source of inspiration.  That said, fantasy can be pretty fun, too.  Some great trendsetters and style icons are people that never actually existed…except on the silver screen.  I’ve already told you about my love for Jennifer Grey’s wardrobe as Baby in the classic Dirty Dancing, and now as I sit here on a Saturday night eating a cheeseburger and watching Pretty in Pink on VH1, I’ve stumbled upon another memorable movie lady: Annie Potts as Iona.  Quirky, constantly changing up her look, and hesitant to blend in with normal folk, Iona continues to live on as a fashion role model with her kooky wigs, tons of accessories, and a sincere commitment to each individual look.

You know what? I thought it was only me who aspired to Annie Potts’s wardrobe in ‘Pretty in Pink’. Glad to see a fellow enthusiast. Staple-gun, punk-haired, is a winner every time:-)
