Indie Ingenue: Lydia Hyslop
This stunning lady is my talented friend Lydia Hyslop, a writer, actress, stylist, and musician who excels at all of her various trades. That said, it should come as no surprise that she also has an admirable sense of style, highlighted by her appreciation for vintage pieces.
To help promote Lydia’s latest venture, a feature film she wrote and also plans to direct and act in, I decided to make her the focus of my latest post and showcase her great personal style. With fashion inspirations like”brassy” vintage babes Marilyn Monroe and Ann Margaret and a style she describes as “a little trashy and a little classy” stemming from her Greensboro, North Carolina roots, Lydia opts for a mix of contemporary and vintage and gravitates towards pieces like sundresses, flat lace-up boots, high-waisted jeans, comfy sweaters, and holey t-shirts.
Below are some photos I took of Lydia’s best looks featuring favorites from her very own closet that include items for her go-to L.A. spot Bobbie Boutique (contemporary women’s clothes by smaller labels punctuated with a pieces from Etsy’s Strim Vintage), thrifted goodies from Greensboro’s Design Archives, and many other sweet odds and ends. Oh, and don’t forget to check out the trailer for Lydia’s future feature film, You Won’t Be Disappointed after the images below and make sure to donate at her Kickstarter page to help make sure the project gets funded!
