“Well you know grey is my favorite color”
My car is grey. My cat is grey. It can be seen as a really cold, depressing color, but I really, really, love grey. So of course it happens to be a major part of my wardrobe. Living in Los Angeles has made me more of a casual-dressing girl than I ever thought I’d be, and therefore I’ve become attached to a very specific article of clothing: the grey t-shirt. I’m not even sure I’ve ever seen a grey tee I didn’t like.
For better or worse, I’ve found a shop in LA that only feeds my obsession. At Lady in Eagle Rock, owner Camille De Soto keeps this staple in stock with enough variances in style to fool everyone into thinking I don’t pretty much wear the same thing every day. A mini short-sleeved grey sweatshirt version? Lady’s got it. Roomy, tunic-length, sleeveless ones with a racer back and cute buttons? Sure! Screen-printed with an Anna Karina graphic? YES! YES! YES! They even took it to the next level with this saucy, Flashdance inspired version by Jack Dakota. At $48, I couldn’t help myself.
I’d be remiss if I didn’t also give credit to American Apparel, makers of the ubiquitous “Deep V-neck” which is in heavy rotation in my wardrobe no matter the season. Under sparkly cardigans, tucked into high-waisted jeans, or worn slouchy with skinny black jeans and boots, it must be the most versitile neutral piece ever. The low v-neck also provided enough sex appeal to keep you from looking frumpy. Just cool, effortless, and chic. Oh…and totally comfortable.
Here are some of the many ways to embrace the LGT (little grey t-shirt).
