The Classics: Leopard Print Coats

In a Google search, “vintage leopard coat” comes up as early as “vintage leo-” so clearly, I’m not the only one obsessed.  The perfect vintage leopard coat is an object so elusive it could take a lifetime to find, but the internet and sites like Etsy.com make it much, much easier.

Always statement-making, always eye-catching, and always chic, a leopard print coat is a fabulous piece to add to your wardrobe (who even cares what’s under it??!!).  On the other hand, if you’re not careful with your selection, a leopard coat can look cheap and tacky.  Real or faux, make sure the fabric is a good quality, not too shiny if it’s synthetic and not too ratty if it’s the real deal.  As with any coat, fit is so important.  Never under estimate the power of a great tailor, especially if you like to shop vintage.  Shoulder seams should be AT the shoulders, or you’ll look like you’re a kid playing dress up in your mom’s closet. Not cool.
